Familyhood Reunion Anniversary!

What do you think when you think of Home?

We think of you.

WE WILL BE HAVING A VIRTUAL B-DAY THIS YEAR. STAY TUNED FOR NEW DETAILS TO FOLLOW.

Home Brewing Company is celebrating it’s 5th anniversary with brews and merch!
The Homebrewer: Supplies & Resource celebrates it’s 8th and we’re giving you deals on Deals on DEALS!!

Now we like to think of ourselves as classy folk,
so we’ve decided to base a theme off of traditional anniversary gifts and even extended to the United Kingdom for some inspiration.

5th Anniversary gift is Salt: As enthusiasts of those malty European brews, this is inspired by UK tradition.
Salt signifies value and essential to life (Just like our love of beer and camaraderie with you all)

8th Anniversary gift is Wood: Symbolizing a durable, long-lasting and solid relationship.
(Which we feel like we have with you all <3)

So what does our anniversary look like you might ask?

Introducing our newest installment to Home Brewing Company:

Nomadic Phases: Specialty Bottle Series

We often pull aside small portions of our larger batches to experiment with various other aspects of the brewing process and myriad ingredients. In the past we have released these as simple blank bottles, with a simple tag that only lists the name of the beer and it’s abv. These are some of our favorite beers, and we love opening them for special occasions. It’s time that we gave these beers the attention that they deserve, so we are rolling out a new bottle series dubbed Nomadic Phases. This series of beers will feature various styles and various ingredient/process experiments. The binding factor will be that they are all special to us, and fantastically interesting and delicious.

  • Nomadic Phases with Nectarines – 6.4%
Saison with French Oak, Nectarines, Peaches & Brett Lambicus
This bottle features a  portion of our saison fermented with nectarines, peaches, french oak, and wild yeast that we brewed in collaboration with Nomad Donuts. We then bottle conditioned that beer with Brettanomyces Lambicus. The result is a slightly drier saison, with accented notes of stone fruit and white pepper. The first beer – and namesake – for our Nomadic Phases Bottle Series.

Saturday: Getting down to the nitty gritty and do some good ole’ fashion learning, with copious amounts of beer of course.

12-4p – Live Streaming  Brew Day with the Home Crew:
The crew is brewing something small and special on our own 5 gallon Anvil Foundry.
Watch and ask questions while laughing along with the crew on all of our brewing quarks.

3p – Virtual Cheers:
With our glasses held high and shout “Salute” to you all who have made our brewing dreams possible.

Jared’s Crew Brew Release & St. Patty’s Day Beer Magic

Did someone say Green Glitter Beer?!

That’s right we did. Jacob is making dreams happen around here and Zana is “tapping” into her River Dance days and doing the Irish Jig in excitement. Will you be joining her? After a few Green Glitter Beers you will!

Another thing that makes us smile from ear to ear is our crew brews. Jared took one of his homebrew and with Jacob’s help, they are upping the ante!

A Dry Irish Stout with Coffee & Tea Collective and Oak Chips! And! At Jared’s request, we will be topping it with whipped cream. Because, it feels good to make magic happen and dreams come true. Looks like you could strike gold at Home Brewing Co.

International Women’s Collabo Brew Day/ Pink Boots Brew

We love to celebrate, just about anything…

…so you know we are going to celebrate women!

We’re hosting a Pink Boots Brew Day for anyone and everyone to see what’s behind the tap wall at Home Brewing Co.
Step in, participate, take pictures and ask all questions!

In the mean time, mingle, hang out and grab a beer or two with some awesome people. All in the spirit of women.

In-Store Competition – New Theme Every Month

Why Compete?

Homebrew Competitions are a great way to receive feedback for improving your brewing techniques. The main function of a competition is to provide quality advice for making our favorite hobby all the more enjoyable.

What’s the Process Like?

Brewers sign up for each month using the links below, and drop off their beers in anonymous bottles. We review and score the beers based on brewing quality and style accuracy.

Who are the Judges?

Many of our crew are certified beer judges through the BJCP, and/or Certified Cicerones. When needed, we will also use certified judges from our fantastic homebrew community.

What Styles Can I Submit?

It depends on the month. We have a different theme each month. Click the link below for more details, and to sign up!

How Do I Compete?

Step 1. Complete a BJCP Bottle ID Form For Each Bottle – This is VERY important – we need to know what the beer is!
Step 2. Click the Competition Link(s) below to enter your beer and contact details.

AHA Big Brew for National Homebrew Day 2016

Participate in the AHA Big Brew for National Homebrew Day 2016 at The Homebrewer!

Come join us for brewing demos, beer, and camaraderie in celebration of National Homebrew Day. We will be joined by local award-winning homebrew club The Brewing Borrachos — Gabe Padilla, Jason Justeson, Victor Carrasquillo and Ralph Carrasquillo — as well as FDC Brewing’s Dave Stepp and Todd Nelson. We will be brewing extract and all-grain versions of the 2016 Big Brew beers. A traditional alt-bier and a delicious ginger honey summer ale: http://www.homebrewersassociation.org/aha-events/national-homebrew-day/

Both clubs are part of the larger San Diego Firefighter homebrewing community and we are so lucky to have them. We will  have beer to sample from Home Brewing Co. as well as food available for purchase. The brewers will be available to answer questions and demonstrate their techniques.

Also, we will be raffling off a Equipment Starter Kit to a lucky new homebrewer — please bring your friends interested in this great hobby!

This is event is FREE.
